The Scrub List (thescrublist.com) is run from Canada. This page explains what information is collected when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. It’s written in plain language on purpose.
What is collected and why
- Visit statistics. This site uses WordPress.com’s built-in stats and Google Analytics. They use cookies and similar tools to count visits, see which pages are read, and get general details like your device, browser and rough location (city or country, not your address). This helps me see which lists are useful.
- Amazon links. When you click a link to Amazon, Amazon may set cookies so it knows the visit came from this site. That’s how commissions are tracked. Amazon’s own privacy notice covers what it collects on its site.
- Emails you send. If you email me, I’ll have your email address and anything you write. I only use it to reply.
- Hosting. The site is hosted by WordPress.com (Automattic), which keeps basic technical logs, such as IP addresses, for security.
This site doesn’t have accounts or take payments. If an email newsletter is added later, you’ll only get emails if you sign up yourself, and you can unsubscribe any time. This page will be updated first.
What isn’t done with it
Your information isn’t sold or rented to anyone. It’s only shared with the services listed above, so they can do their jobs. Some of these services store data outside Canada, such as in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws.
Your choices
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
- You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s free browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- You can ask what information I have about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, by emailing hello@thescrublist.com.
Questions or concerns
